Contemporary art and university
Reflections on the influences of the multidisciplinary environment in current artistic production
Abstract
This article intends to raise some reflections on the current condition of art, increasingly closer to the university environment, and the influences that this academic environment has been having on contemporary artistic production in its strong conceptualist character. The approximation of artistic production, as well as its immanent theory, with other fields of knowledge has been promoting teaching, research and extension activities that, in an increasingly intense way, create inter and transdisciplinary connections. Although this phenomenon in the United States has been observed since the middle of the twentieth century, in the Brazilian context it begins to become evident from the 1990s when Brazilian universities began to create specific lines of research, aimed at training artists.
