Interconexão entre ciência e política internacional no discurso federal norte-americano na Feira Mundial de Nova-Iorque (1939-1940)

Keywords: History of science, Epistemology, International politics

Abstract

The work seeks to highlight the strong effort and success in the role of the US federal government, through actions and speeches within the New York World’s Fair 1939-1940, in the foundations of this deeply-rooted diplomatic tradition in science, and a new idea of solidarity among the nations. The results were obtained through the analysis of original official historical documents, and highlight fundamental aspects of this construction, the additive role of the conjugation between governmental and private spheres in this construction, and the use of scientific Americanization as an element of promises to the world to boost the economic, political and social process of spreading the US agenda to multilateral organizations, and to shape the desires and actions of national states, mainly the US.
